Pictorial frontis partially detached, otherwise a solid copy. 310pp. The third edition, with an introduction by Edward A. Samuels. The author was born in Medford, MA, and was just 17 when he hiked across South America.

Dunedin: Stone, Son, and Co., 1894. 106pp. Red cloth binding, spine a bit faded but gold lettering still clear and bright. A remembrance written later in life of the author's traveling out to India in 1845 - before the Suez Canal - to take a position as an engineer.

Hardcover, original brown cloth with gold lettering. Boston: Houghton, Osgood and Company, 1879. 308pp. Interesting contemporary bookplate on front paste-down, inked name stamped on verso of flyleaf. Includes plates and fold-out maps. Plate VIII, Map of Located Points near Lowe;s Path to Mt Adams has water stains, not effecting surrounding pages.
