Uncommon hardcover issue, inscribed by the author who went on to win the 2003 Nobel Prize in Physics. Some spotting to the front free end paper and top of text block, else a fine copy in near fine dust wrapper, very lightly spotted lower spine and a little tanned on the spine verso.

Neat name, spine leaning a bit, otherwise a fine unmarked copy in dust wrapper, clipped at corners (price still intact), one open and one closed edge tear and a few small chips. Overall, a very attractive copy of this classic, difficult to find in hardcover.

Association Copy, inscribed by Waddington to E. O. Wilson. Waddington was a British developmental biologist who laid the foundations for systems biology, epigenetic, and evolutionary developmental biology.
