Charming and unusual hand colored engraving from 'Les Fleurs Animes', a collection of 52 illustrations, each with an accompanying story having to do with the interesting notion of reversing the comparison of human emotions to flowers. 1859. Very good condition. Mezzotint engraving of young woman in fur trimmed dress, leaning out of a leaded glass window and holding a bunch of grapes. Engraved by Gustave Levy, after Gabriel Metzu (Metsu), a Dutch painter (1629 - 1667). 8 1/8 x 11 1/4". Light foxing upper right corner.

1875. Constantia was one of the six wine regions around Capetown, South Africa. Penciled caption on verso reads, "Wine vaults , Constantia, Nr. Capetown."
