Taylor's article is an important early English account of the forensic utility of tattoos as evidence of identity, and includes a detailed discussion on the possibility and efficacy of tattoo removal. The author, a toxicologist and 'medical jurist' who testified as expert witness in several Victorian murder trials, was a prolific and popular medical writer for the general public as well as his professional peers. In the notorious Tichborne Case of 1871, an Australian claimant later determined to be Arthur Orton put himself forward as the missing Roger Tichborne, heir to the Tichborne baronetcy and presumed lost at sea. Sound artist and publisher tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE, contributes collages based on his high school yearbook. cONVENIENCE's online bibliography describes two "(basically 'identical') editions of 100 each" for this publication, which was "originally intended to be" an issue of E-Pod itself. Published on the occasion of the exhibition held at both Aldrich and the Clevland Museum of Contemporary Art. Includes essays by Jill Snyder and Ingrid Shaffner (the latter's contribution titled "Circling Oblivion: Bruce Nauman through Samuel Beckett"), as well as color plates of the exhibition's contents, which include drawings, prints, and sculptures. Wraps. Small square 8vo. Pictorial wraps. Very good plus. Touches of rubbing to wraps. Interior bright, clean throughout. Front hinge starting (just a touch); otherwise, tight. 82pp.

1979. Near fine.. Ticket for legendary San Francisco punk band The Avengers, at Washington Hall in Seattle on June 1, 1979. A silhouetted drawing of Penelope Houston clutches a microphone against a black-dotted orange background, over the ticket price ($4 with tax), framed by show information. Distributed or promoted by local Seattle record store Time Travelers, also named on the ticket. The Avengers opened for the final Sex Pistols concert at the Wonderland Ballroom in 1978, and would themselves break up shortly after the show advertised here. 4.5'' by 2.5'' approx. Ticket printed in black on bright orange stiff paper. Barely worn, near fine.

New York: The Bawl Street Journal Corporation, 1965. First Edition. Very good.. Long-running, WSJ-parodying newspaper published by a New York investment bankers' club. Contains a wide variety of industry in-jokes and New Yorker-esque cartoons, some of which are perhaps only comprehensible to bankers. Still, the paper offers a unique, interesting, and bitingly sardonic perspective on the financial industry circa 1965, full of direct send-ups of Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan, and many then-prominent Wall Street executives. Folio. Folded newspaper (2 sheets, [8] pp). Several small holes at folds on front page. Vertical crease to front. A bit toned overall, otherwise very good.

Boston: Bruce Miner Company, 1970. Near fine.. Original order sheet for the Bruce Miner company's line of bongs - "Cold Tokes" - with a full-color ad featuring a photograph of the eight different styles offered along with various accessories. Touting an innovative design that allows the base to be removed for easy cleaning, this material was intended for head shop owners and other retailers. Apparently introduced in a time of disappointing sales, Cold Tokes are promised to be "just what is needed to boost sagging bong sales of the past few months." 11'' x 8.5''. Single sheet printed recto and verso and stapled to full color offset advertisement measuring 8.5" x 9.25" approx. Minor toning at edges.

New York: The Living Theatre, 1959. Near fine.. Two original flyers for Jack Gelber's THE CONNECTION, directed by Judith Malina and designed by Julian Beck. A hit production of The Living Theatre and one that helped cement its reputation as the premier company for avant-garde theater. The play, centered on Jazz musicians and junkies waiting on their dealer, was an early realistic portrayal of heroin addiction at the end of a decade beset by drug hysteria. 11'' x 8.5'' and 13.25'' x 6.75''. Offset printed recto only in black and red. Minor toning to both.
