John Eachard was a 17th-century English Anglican clergyman who was primarily remembered for his satire on English clergy, 'The Grounds & Occasions of the Contempt of the Clergy'. Eachard seemingly mocks members of the clergy for their supposed 'contempt' against the church with their desire to have more money, better education, and of course, a real job. Note this passage:
"The Holy men of God, or the ministry in general, hereby is disesteemed and rendered of small account. For though they be called Men of god, yet when it is observed, that God seems to take but little care of them." (p.95)

'Gloucester Fragments' is an impressive, mid-19th-century collection of ancient Saxon handwritten text facsimiles by Saint Swithin and Mary of Egypt. The facsimile is accompanied by a transliteration into modern English with explanations and commentary by John Earle.
This work is without question one of the best sources on the lives of Saint Swithin and Mary of Egypt. Swithin was known to be a 9th-century Anglo-Saxon bishop of Winchester Cathedral. Saint Mary of Egypt was a 4th-century figure who repented from a life of prostitution to become a nun and lived in the desert for the rest of her life.
This work is an excellent example of medieval handwriting and text and provides an understanding into Saxon language as well as the history of these venerated figures.

His book, simply known as 'Egypt', helped popularize Egyptian lore throughout Europe and America. This rare, first English edition was translated out of the original German by Clara Bell with an introduction and notes by S. Birch, the keeper of the Department of Oriental Antiquities in the British Museum.

This treatise would serve as the basis for countless future works including 16th-century Portuguese philosopher André Rodrigues Eborense and his work 'Sententiae'.

The 60th-New York Volunteer Infantry was a famous Civil War Union regiment known for playing an important role in various battles including the Battle of Gettysburg. Author Richard Eddy wrote an account of the regiment and its involvement in the war; however, according to Nevins, this work is much more a "damnation of the South and slavery than a regimental history." A curious pairing of two interesting 18th-century works – the 'Memoirs' of English naturalist George Edwards and Henry Wyndham's "Tour Through Monmouthshire and Wales".
Edwards studied birds and animals and covered them extensively in his writings which contains his descriptions of crocodiles and alligators, frog fish of Suriname, the Argus pheasant, the lynx, the Snake Eater bird, and others all of which included references to Carl Linneaus and his nomenclature.
The much more extensive portion of this book is dedicated to the report of Wyndham's 1774 and 1777 voyages through Wales and Monmouthshire. This book offers descriptions of iconic locations – castles, and cathedrals, and ruins mainly – and includes absolutely stunning engravings of the locations.
