Golem's Eye

Second in Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy. Two years after the events of the The Amulet of Samarkand, Nathaniel's fortunes have never been better. He is apprenticed to a powerful magician and is employed at the Ministry Of Internal Affairs. His task is to crush the Resistance - a group of commoners responsible for the increasing theft of magical items in London. He is confident about success, until a new string of attacks take place, unlike anything the Resistance has ever done before. Nathaniel must quickly track down the perpetrators before the commoners panic, and what favor he has with the Prime Minister wilts away. Personal Opinion: I can't help but feel this book has let me down. It was enjoyable, especially after Bartimaeus was summoned, but not as much as The Amulet of Samarkand. A bit too fast paced. And I feel the Big Bad Boss of the entire series has been revealed too early - a few clues too many. Bartimaeus, though, is still hilarious. I enjoyed all the chapters with the "noble" djinni in it. As a whole, this book is a fine read, and leaves the reader wanting more.
