Sobre este item

London: J.M. Dent & Co., 1902. 12mo size green clothbound hardcover with gilt titles and decorations on spine and front cover, deckle edged pages. Author portrait on frontispiece. This is the second volume of poetry from Hugh McCulloch (1869 - 1902) published posthumously. McCulloch died in Florence, Italy in 1902. These poems were written during his sojourn there. The poet is the grandson and namesake of United States Treasury Secretary Hugh McCulloch. There is a note on fep circa 1905: "It may be of interest to the reader that the author of these poems was a direct descendant of the (illegible) Samuel Man, the first clergyman at Wrentham, (Massachusetts) through his grandmother, Susan Man who married Hugh McCulloch, Secretary of the Treasury under (United States Presidents) Lincoln, Johnson and Arthur." There appears to be the signature of the accessioning librarian underneath this note, but we're unable to make out the name. Ex-library with typical treatments, some light soil to covers, edgewear, bumped heel of spine. . Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Ex-Library.
