Many will be familiar with one of his most famous tales, "The Gift of the Magi" (in "The Four Million") which has been re-worked, parodied, and otherwise re-told countless times since it was written. O. Henry coined the term "banana republic" in his collection "Cabbages and Kings." In "The Caballero's Way" ("Heart of the West") he introduces one of his most famous characters, The Cisco Kid.
