[6], vii-ix, [3], 1-147, [1] pp. Green cloth with gold lettering on the front board in gold borders, gold lettering on the spine. Price of $1.50 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Lincoln. With a Temple Review booksellers and publishers ticket on the front pastedown. Conwell was the founder and first president of Temple University. A biography of Lincoln, specifically, Conwell's memory of the president's humor and oratory style. Conwell himself is remembered for his book, Acres of Diamonds, a nineteenth-century embodiment of the stereotypical American Dream. Conwell lectured and wrote that one can get rich if one only pulls themselves up by their bootstraps. A nick to the front fold and two small spots of rubbing.
