Fiala (b.1869--d.1950) was the first to film the Arctic polar regions in 1901 during the Baldwin--Ziegler expedition, 1901-02. He was the commander and photographer the second Ziegler Arctic expedition in 1903-05. This search for the North Pole ended in failure. He wrote of this experience: Fighting the Polar Ice in 1906. .
