Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1964. 8vo size purple clothbound hardcover with red decoration and silver foil titles; color illustrated dust jacket; 217 pages with some black and white photographs and illustrations followed by index. From jacket: "This book is the ideal traveller's companion on a trip to Britain... The author divides the history of Britain into the traditional periods of its art and architecture - Norman, Early English, Decorated, and so on down to the present day. The distinguishing characteristics of the art of each period are simply explained and illustrated, and for each monarch there is a picture, a thumbnail character sketch, and a brief account of the outstanding evens of the reign. The dress of the period is shown, and contemporary objects, such as furniture, glass, silver, or sculpture, are illustrated to help you identify and date what you see." Contents include the Architectural Periods I through XI, Norman through 20th Century. Jacket is edgeworn, chipped at top of spine and has a half inch tear at top. There is a penciled notation on fep; lightly bumped corners. . Cloth. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
