Sobre este item
New York: John P. Haven, 1831. First American edition. Two volumes, 357, 360 pp. 8vo, original cloth backed boards with paper labels. Cloth spines frayed, but the hinges are sound, a very good copy, with usual foxing. Scarce in unrestored original condition, as poorly made as are most American books of the period. One of the important early ethnographic accounts of Hawaii, with detailed descriptions of life and customs. Volume 1 two also tells of Tahiti, Hawaii, Macao and Rio de Janeiro. Both volumes have the signature oif Russell Hubbard, publisher of the Norwich (Connecticut) Courier., Forbes, II, 798; Hill 1644.
