Sobre este item
Oxford, 1939. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. (Oxford at the Clarendon Press 1939). First UK Edition. Publisher's original dark blue cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. A former owner's neat name (and Oxford College - Oriel) to the front paste-down and offsetting to both the front and rear end-papers otherwise VG indeed. In the VERY RARE D/W priced 12s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The D/W has benefitted from highly skilled restoration by one of the World's leading paper conservators to a 2 cm loss at the head of the spine and 2.2 cm (at its deepest) at the base of the spine. A further chip just affecting the publisher's logo at the left hand edge of the spine has also been restored. The D/W now shows as a VG+ example. An image of the D/W (pre and post restoration) is included to enable the extent and quality of the restoration. This book is a classic exposition of macro-economic theory. In this book Professor Hicks essayed two tasks of major importance: to reduce modern economic analysis to a manageable whole; and to construct a system of Economic Dynamics
this is one of the few books which mark a stage in the advance of a science.' (The Economist). 'Everything Professor Hicks writes bears the hallmark of quality' (The New Statesman). The late J.R. Hicks (1904-1989) was formerly Drummond Professor of Political Economy, Oxford University. He was considered one of the most important and influential economists of the twentieth century.
