Winner of the Bancroft Prize, the Eugene M. Kayden National University Press Book Award, and the Jules and Frances Landry Award. In 1861 a group of slaves in Adams County, Mississippi, conspired to overthrow their masters but were discovered and over 30 slaves were killed. The incident was hidden for over a century before the author discovered evidence, leading to years of research. This edition "contains two new documents relating to the conspiracy as well as other evidence that has come to light since publication of the hardcover edition." -- back cover. In Near Fine Condition: edges rubbed; clean and tight.
