First edition hardcover with dust jacket, published by Saalfield, 1929. Part of the Black Rider series, in this story Tom Blake tries to help an amnesiac, which leads to a kidnapping and a number of other adventures. 231 pages. Red cloth covered boards with th author name and title imprinted on the spine and front cover in black. The dust jacket is intact, though it does have to large chips on the spine, one triangular chip at the head of the spine about 2" long, and one about 1" long at the heel of the spine, edge wear chipping top and bottom, age tanning. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped, light wear to the boards. Sewn binding is tight. Faded pencil gift dedication on the first flyleaf, two faded names in pencil on the last flyleaf as well. Considerable age tanning to the text pages, which would seem to be common to this edition considering the type of paper stock used. No further writing on the text pages. Page 106 has a diagonal crease at the top left corner. Not a library discard copy. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
