A great majority of women today can say that they read (and, in all likelihood, have at least one favourite) Judy Blume book. I know this is the case for me, and as it turns out, that book is Tiger Eyes.
Re-reading Tiger Eyes for the first time in more years than I can even remember made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I’m sure a lot of that was pure nostalgia, but even so, it is undeniable to me that this is a really excellent book. Davey’s story is a sensitive and truthful portrayal of what it means to be an adolescent dealing with severe heartache and loss. And though it was originally published way back in 1981, I feel like this is one of those books that will continually stand the test of time. Let’s call it vintage young adult fiction.
At turns painful, sweet and encouraging, Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume is the heartwarming adventure of a strong young woman whom I think everybody will cheer for. And while it may not be a brand new novel hot off the press, it should definitely be on your to-be-read list if you haven’t already had the pleasure of reading it.
