New York, NY: Ballantine Books. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1952. 1st American Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. Originally published in France as Une Maison Soufflee aux Vents (and in the UK as Dust in the Wind). This is the first American edition. This book is part of the Ballantine Books Hardback series; this book was published simultaneously with the paperback and is the First Hardback Edition. This is Book Number H6. The book is in Very Good condition and has a Very Good- dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The text pages are clean, but noticeably toned due to the acid content of the paper. The dust jacket has several edge tears, nicks and rubbed spots along with an inch long shallow chip to the front panel. "The Rue Dauphine was a narrow street in the very heart of Le Havre's dockland slums. A picturesque street - the tourists said. But pinched houses oozed poverty and dirt - their inhabitants knew every kind of brutality and passion." "Émile Danoën (10 January 1920 – 7 May 1999) was a French journalist and novelist. Émile Danoën (10 January 1920 – 7 May 1999) was a French journalist and novelist. Danoën was born Émile Orvoën, to Pierre Orvoën and Léonie Le Doze at Moëlan-sur-Mer in Finistère, Brittany, but he grew up in the seamen's hostel run by his parents in the district of Saint-François in Le Havre. During the Second World War, he moved to Marseilles with his first wife Georgette, with whom he had two sons, Michael and Peter. He worked at the magazine Les Cahiers du Sud while at the same time appearing in bars and restaurants in the old port working as a street violinist." (from Wikipedia) .
