Philadelphia: Thomas Dobson, 1814. Hardcover. Very Good -. viii, 453, [1] p., 1 folded leaf of a plate; 23 cm. Contemporary full calf with six spine compartments between gilt rules. Leather labels in second compartment with gilt-tooled title "Wistar's Anatomy" and in fourth compartment with volume number. Errata for volumes 1 and 2 on one page following text. Caspar Wistar (1761-1818) taught anatomy, midwifery, and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania from 1789 to his death in 1818. He published A System of Anatomy in two volumes in 1811 and 1814. He served as president of both the American Philosophical Society and the Society for the Abolition of Slavery. In Very Good- Condition: leather is slightly rubbed; front board just starting at tail; minor loss at head of spine; 10-cm. tear in folded plate, without loss; light soiling throughout; a few pages browning.
