Sobre este item
London: George Routledge & Sons, 1883. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A smart first edition of this scientific study of British surnames, with the author's presentation inscription to the title page. First edition. Author's presentation to the title page. A scientific and historical study into surnames, intending to account for a great number of names which have previously been unaccounted for in terms of their sources. Written by Robert Ferguson, an English mill-owner, antiquarian and Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1874 to 1886. In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot predominantly to the first and last few pages. Very Good
