Boston: Houghton Mifflin/The Riverside Press Cambridge, 1914). Hardcover with Red cloth boards, includes original wax paper DJ in Fair condition. Some pages are still uncut, binding square and tight.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: The story begins "The peculiar charm and fascination that trees exert over many people I had always felt from childhood, but it was that great nature-lover, John Muir, who first showed me how and where to learn the language." Mills then proceeds to tell the tale of an old growth pine that had captured his heart. 'His' tree was located near Mesa Verde National Park. 4 photographs, several small sketches. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: As a boy and as a man, Enos Mills (1870–1922) lived a remarkable life. His bond with nature and wildlife inspired him to overcome personal hardship and become a successful speaker, author, naturalist, businessman, and driving force behind the creation of Rocky Mountain National Park. Today, Mills is remembered as Colorado's premier conservationist.
