The text supported by numerous illustrations. Colour fold-out map at the rear with one short tear but still in very good condition. Original publisher's blue cloth boards - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. 2 ink name inscriptions to the corner of the front endpaper and an Ayr address too. A 16cm split to the cloth along the rear joint - from the head of the spine with some repair and neat. A couple of circular stain marks caused by a drinks glass/mug to the front board. A small chip in the outer cloth to the head of the spine. A little dust soiling - not heavy and a few other small marks to the endpapers. Rubbing of the cloth to board corners with a little loss. A good plus first edition copy. Not a later facsimile reprint.
