Sobre este item
Duell, Sloan & Pearce, 1941. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Third printing. Association copy: Not signed, but with the bookplate of Larry McMurtry, standout literary Texan and winner of the Pulitzer Prize. The third in the American Folkways Series. From the jacket: "The Short Grass Country is bounded by Ozarks and woodlands on the east, by the foothills of the Rockies on the west, by the Colorado River on the south, and by the corn-lands of Kansas and Nebraska on the north. A land of colorful history and lusty life, it stretches from Wichita almost to Denver." It also, according to the books illustrated endpapers, includes upper Texas. A great gift for someone from this area. Near fine in very good jacket. Please inquire for photos.

Sobre Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
