Author was in the Imperial Cavalry from1911-1920. Book is his autobiography as a cadet at the Nicholas Cavalry School in St. Petersburg to his commissioning in Sumsky Hussars and through WWI and the Russian Revolution. Author founded the famous Boots and Saddles Riding School and operated it from 1921-1981.
