New York/London: The Macmillan Company, 1900. James Lane Allen (1849-1925) was an American regional author who wrote "local color" stories and novels set in Kentucky. This is a Near Fine copy of his tenth published work. Red decorative cloth binding with floral decorations in green and white, titling in gilt, on both spine and front cover. Clean text; 385 pages, with a five-page publisher's catalog in the rear (last leaf unopened). Frontis illustration and seven others within. Slight bumps, some scuffs on the rear cover; small stain at pages 56-57; slight fade to the spine. An attractive copy from an author who needs to be re-discovered. . First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. Illus. by Harry Fenn and J.C. Earl. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
