Sobre este item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Mary Dorr and Gordon Gordon (The Gordons): There are two versions of "The Gordons". The first team was Gordon Gordon and his wife Mildred Nixon Gordon. After she died in 1979, Gordon remarried and continued his familial collaboration with his new wife, Mary Dorr Gordon. They wrote stories about FBI agent John "Rip" Ripley, as well as The FBI Story (which can be found elsewhere in this bookstore). Perhaps their most successful books were the Undercover Cat stories, which were the basis for the movie That Darn Cat!, with Hayley Mills. At least three other books were made into movies as well. This book was written as a collaboration with wife #2.

Leslie Charteris: Charteris is well known as the creator of his character Simon Templar, also known as The Saint. Charteris published over 60 books about the Saint, which lead to two television series and a movie. This is Charteris' fiftieth and final Saint novel.

Desmond Bagley: British writer of mysteries and thrillers, Desmond Bagley began as a worker in the aviation industry before emigrating to South Africa, where he took up writing as a full time career. He published seventeen novels, as well as being a freelance writer and film critic. Bagley died in 1983.

Sobre Turtleman Used Books

Thanks for visiting Turtleman Books.

Opened August 1st of 2022, Turtleman Used Books in Olympia, WA. Address is 108 22nd Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501. Suite #4. This is a small shop, so some books may only be displayed online, others only displayed in the store. Come on by if you are in town. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Many of my books are oversized. Rather than ask for shipping adjustments at the time of purchase, the list price for heavier books includes the excess shipping cost. All of my photographs are of the actual product, taken by my trusty little Kindle Fire. Currently we have about 2900 books offered for sale online, with more being added daily.
