[Geneva: Henricus Stephanus], 1575. 8vo. pp. [xvi], 135, [i], 134, [ii] blank, 112, [xxii], lacks final blank (b4). Old paper pasted over the lower half of the final page to obscure juvenile doodlles, just beneath Estienne’s farewell address to the reader. Ink staining to pp 22-25 in the first section (b3-5); wormhole in the upper part of the page, just beneath the headline, throughout, affecting letters of text; one in the lower margin, also throughout. The first poem has been annotated in an old hand. English sprinkled calf c. 1700, rebacked, retaining old spine, headcaps renewed. Old ownership signatures and inscriptions to title, including Charles ?Sombanck, Oxford (with pious motto); Katharine Gyles; Henry ?Purefoy; Jonathan ?Battishall. Armorial bookplate of Ham Court Worcestershire (built in 1797 and owned by book collector the Rev Joseph Martin, who died in 1828). First edition of the Augustan poet Horace which was edited by Henri Estienne, with his printed notes and dissertations.
