Moderate foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with slight fraying and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Severe cracking to hinges causing boards and pages to be loose. Frontispiece detached but still present. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Pencil inscription to rear of frontispiece. Top of rear free endpaper missing. Water staining to some pages, text remains unaffected. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Staining to rear board. Wear marks overall.

Hinges and gutters are cracked with exposed netting. Slightly loose pages in places. Front endpaper has been removed. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper and pastedown. Boards have some edge wear, with moderate bumping and fraying to corners, while spine ends are crushed and frayed. Rather scratched, rubbed and marked overall. Slight joint splits. Spine is heavily sunned. Gilt is bright. Book has a slight forward lean. Sticker to spine.
