Sobre este item
Edinburgh & London: Archibald Constable and Co. & Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown; J. Murray; and Hurst, Robinson and Co., 1821. Walter Scott was the first editor of "Sir Tristrem." There is academic argument that ithe original is actually not in a Scottish dialect, as Scott believed. His version was first published in 1804. Here is Volume III only of a ten-volume set of Scott's works. A difficult title to obtain. This is a nice early printing bound in a blue smooth calf leather. Ruled in gilt on both covers; four raised bands on the spine, decorated and titled in gilt. Clean text; cxxvii, 400 pages; containing an Introduction, Appendix to the Introduction, the poem itself, an "Account of the German Romances of the Story of Sir Tristrem by Mr Henry Weber, Notes on the individual fytes, a Conclusion and a Glossary. Marbled endpapers and page ends. The first few pages have spotting, but in general the textblock is bright and fresh. Mild wear to the margins. Quite an attractive book.. Later Printing. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
