Octavo, English-language edition, pp. [x], 180, 3 (ads), red cloth boards with gilt lettering and dogs on spine and front, illustrations by Cottington Taylor, translation from the original German by Mrs. John Lane, inscribed on the free front endpaper by her and her husband, the publisher, to Henry Harland and his wife. Harland is best remembered as the editor of The Yellow Book, an 1890s art and literary quarterly that launched Aubrey Beardsley. The story involves a puppy's progress in Germany. Condition of this book: Spine sunned, covers darkened with a couple spots on the back panel, hinge crack at title page. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Illustrator: Cottington Taylor. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo.
