Sobre este item

East Hampton, NY: Guild Hall Museum, 2002. 80 pages, illustrations (chiefly colour); 22 x 28 cm. Edition of 2000 copies. Catalogue of an exhibition at the Guild Hall Museum, East Hampton, NY, August 10 to October 20, 2002. Firm binding, clean inside copy. Examining neglected primary sources, the lead essay by Taylor describes how the ideology and praxis of the women's art movement was related to the contemporaneous New Left and the Civil Rights Movement, and how the schism between Marxist "politicos" and radical feminists was later supplanted by cultural feminism, which in turn became more aesthetically and politically conservative over time, celebrating traditional women's crafts and goddess mythology. Using formal analysis informed by Lacanian psychoanalysis, Ng looks at individual works created by women artists and analyzes how feminist art disrupts the male gaze and affirms women's sexuality. CONTENTS: Laurie Anderson; Eleanor Antin; Lynda Benglis; Judith Bernstein; Louise Bourgeois; Judy Chicago; Mary Beth Edelson; Louise Fishman; Audrey Flack; Hermine Freed; Eunice Golden; Mary Grigoriadis; Nancy Grossman; Harmony Hammond; Valerie Jaudon; Joyce Kozloff; Suzanne Lacy; Ana Mendieta; Alice Neel; Adrian Piper; Faith Ringgold; Martha Rosler; Betye Saar; Miriam Schapiro; Carolee Schneemann; Joan Semmel; Sylvia Sleigh; Joan Snyder; Nancy Spero; May Stevens; Michelle Stuart; Mierle Laderman Ukeles; Hannah Wilke; Martha Wilson.. 1st.
