Sobre este item

New York: W.A. Townsend and Company, 1860. 1860. Hardcover. Brown decorative binding with gilt illustrations/lettering, and in-blind designs. Beveled extremities. Two frontispieces with tissue overlay and illustrated tail-pieces throughout, 515 pages. Originally, this is one title in a set of 32 various novels. Illustrated from drawings by F.O.C. Darley (1822-1888), a well-known illustrator known for his works of famous authors of the 19th century, including Charles Dickens. NOT A TRADE EDITION, FACSIMILE, OR MORE RECENT REPRINT. THIS IS THE ACTUAL 1860 EDITION. Condition of binding: Lightly age darken, light age wear. Endpapers: Beautiful bookplate of Henry Bigelow Williams of Boston (believed to be a well-known property developer, land owner, and distinguished citizen). William also wrote his name, city [Boston] and date [1869], and "32 volumes" on first free endpaper. Several pages have creases (done at the binding/cutting process stage of the book). Hint of offsetting, foxing at frontispiece. Pages are clean, readable. Illustrations are clear, vivid. Overall, extremely Very Good condition for an uncommon antiquarian novel. This wonderful story by James Fenimore Cooper was originally published in 1840. It's about Natty Bumppo, a wilderness scout, who comes to the aid of a British colonial garrison under attack. Bumppo loves Mabel Dunham, daughter of a sergeant; but she loves his friend, Jasper Western, who is believed to be a traitor. The true traitor, Lieutenant, Davy Muir, is eventually killed. An enduring story. Collectible. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. . Hard Cover. Very Good.

Sobre R. Siedlecki Vintage Books

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you’ll receive. In business since 1991, we typically have five-star ratings on major web sites.
