New York: Press of Kilbourne Tompkins, 1875. Hardcover. Very Good. 8.5" x 7" x 1. Inscribed by the Author. Inscribed by the author to Charles G. Bower on the front flyleaf, dated 1903. Bound in textured dark blue publisher's cloth, cover is heavily ornamented in a lovely gilt floral design with gilt lettering. Back cover is blind debossed with same pattern as cover. Spine is also lettered and ornamented in gilt. All edges gilt. Light yellow endpapers. Contains twenty-nine poems in separate stanzas divided by Roman Numerals. Poems include: The Overland Route - The Journey, California, and The Return; The Undine; Lady Grace's Bridal; The Storm King; Idyls of Niagra - The Cave of the Winds, A View from the Maid of the Mist', and The Lunar Rainbow; The Clock Tower; Venice; After the Wreck; A Pastoral; Lady Belle; The Water Fay; The Exile; Our Captain's Orders; Buonarotti's Dome; Mirrored Clouds; The Coronation of the Czar; Lookout Mountain; Fairy Tails of the Tropics - Elves' Crotto, The Gone King's Wedding, and The Queen of the Fairies; The Ocean; A Legend of Vesuvius; Ode to a Comet; A Romance of Amalfi; The Taking of New Orleans; and The Chamois Hunter. vi, 296 pp. Cover shows wear and fading, especially on back cover. Some scratching on gilt edges. Leaves have lightly and evenly toned with very little foxing. Mild discoloration spots within endpapers. Unmarked except for inscription by author. Hinges are strong and binding is solid. A very nice copy. Full refund if not satisfied.
