Sobre este item

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1951. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good+. First edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's navy cloth with gilt spine lettering, red topstain. Near Fine, light foxing to cloth; former owner's name stamped in pink on the front free endpaper, age spot to rear free endpaper. In a Very Good+ unclipped dust jacket with fading to spine, moderate edge wear and heavy foxing at verso. A rather nice copy of a book that usually turns up much worse for wear. The political philosopher's first major work, following some articles, translations, and Sechs Essays in German. Named one of the 100 best books of the 20th Century by Le Monde.

Sinopse

The Origins of Totalitarianism (German Elemente und Ursprünge totaler Herrschaft, i.e. Elements and origins of totalitarian rule) is a book by Hannah Arendt which classed Nazism and Stalinism as totalitarian movements. Its original title was to be 'The Burden of Our Times', and the move away from this may have helped to obscure the main thrust of the book, which is far from being a straightforward study of the Nazi and Stalinist totalitarianism it might appear.
