London: John Murray, 1854. First edition. Cloth bound hardcover. Fair. 3 volumes. Ex-library, with call numbers written on spine and square light posts where a label once was attached. Spines have wear, chipping and small tears at both ends of each volume. Remnants of card pockets and due date sheets at rear pastedowns. Hinges starting at first few pages in all volumes, more so vol. 1. Vol. 1 also has tape repair at rear hinge. Library exlibris in each volume, with some pencil notations. Some chipping at edges of each endpaper. A few pages are unopened, a few others roughly opened. Page edges soiled at top. Frontis to vol.3 torn in 2 places, not affecting image. Vol I - frontis, cclxxxiii, 104 p. Vol. 2 - frontis, 374 p. w/ 32 p. catalog, illustrations. Vol. 3 - 292 p. w./ frontis and 34 folding plates illustrating patents. A repairable copy of an important 19th century scientific work on steam engines and machines designed by Watt.
