New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers (Harpers), 1902. First Edition . Red Cloth. Good +. First Printing. Red Cloth, Gilt, With Decorative Cover Paste-On Illustration, As Issued. A Solid But Edgeworn Copy, With Gilt Lettering And Paper Illustration On Cover Still Bright, A Little Damp Spotting To Spine. This Is Jack London's Copy, With His Original Bookplate (Not A Reprint), And It Has The Very Small "H. E. H." Dupl." (Henry E. Huntington Duplicate) Stamp On The Rear Pastedown. It Was Purchased From The Huntington Library In San Marino (As Noted By A Later Owner In The Book, Along With His Address Label), When They Disposed Of All Books In His Library They Were Not Interested In; Famously, They Later Reconsidered, And Quietly Attempted To Reassemble The Library, This Volume Eluding Them So Far. The Book Is Missing The Front Endpaper, And I Would Expect That Is Because It Was Originally Inscribed To Jack London Or Someone Close To Him.
