Dymock's Book Arcade Ltd, Sydney, 1944. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair/No Dust Jacket. 218 pp., last 6 blank. Orange coloured boards with black writing on the front panel and backstrip. First Australian edition of one of America's premier writers of the middle 20th century. The book is looking its age -- it's scuffed, rubbed and quite grubby. Minor wear to the top book corners but bumping to the bottom and there is bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine. The paper edges up quite brown and the internal pages are brown as well, worse at the edges. Slight browning to the endpapers and previous owner's name on the free front endpaper. Original bookseller's sticker to the front paste down, lower right-hand corner. This is the first Australian edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
