Half bound in brown leather over cloth covered boards, gilt lettering on spine and gilt lettering and design on front. All edges gilt. Silk moire endpapers. Title page in red and black. 4to. A large and heavy volumes which will incur an additional charge for overseas delivery. Boards lightly rubbed at edges. Gutter strained after front endpaper. Gift inscription, dated 1878, inked on first true leaf. Some light water staining, page browning and foxing. Illustrated with steel portraits and wood engravings by English and American artists, silhouette titles, manuscript facsimiles.
