Superb full black, straight-grained morocco, with 5 raised bands and gilt titles to spine, with gilt armorial stating "The Gift of the Haberdashers' Company" to upper board. All edges marbled; marbled endpapers, with page-marker. Corners and spine tips lightly bruised with some minor surface loss; contemporary gift inscription (Jones' Grammar School) and owner's details and stamp to prelims. A clean, neat copy; Very Good condition. A handsomely bound example of White's work, widely regarded as both the foundation of modern natural history and as a literary classic. This is a revised edition with notes by Rev. Leonard Jenyns.
