NY: Doubleday. Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket. 1932. First Edition. Hardcover. Black cloth titled in gilt. Stated first edition. Inner hinges stretched a bit in spots but not cracked. Backstrip a bit softened and with a small spot. Textblock edges slightly dust darkened. The DJ in mylar is chipped at spine ends and points, mildly toned, rubbed through at spots in folds. Flap price $2.50 intact. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
Sinopse
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He began to study medicine in London but quit to focus exclusively on writing. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
