Very Good/no dustwrapper. 8vo. 2 colour maps, b&w text engravings 2nd Edition, revised and enlarged, of William Wilde's narrative of his journey to Madeira, Teneriffe, the Middle East etc, describing his travels and observations in the region which he undertook in 1837; 2 full-page colour maps - Plan of Jerusalem, and Chart of the Coast of Tyre (this latter stated in list of illustrations to p.336 but in fact p. 356), b&w text engravings; William Wilde was a prominent Irish doctor and author, producing works on medicine, archaeology, and Irish folklore, he was the father of Oscar Wilde; this copy new bound in half black leather with gilt bands and titling to spine, marbled boards, new endpapers; occasional light foxing in text, archival repair to top corner of one page (prelims), and edge of illustrations page, o.w. Very Good throughout.
