Sobre este item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1981. Boards. Very Good/Very Good. A very presentable copy of the 1981 stated 1st American edition (which preceded the British edition) of Salman Rushdie's magnum opus. Tight and VG (2 small ink stamps [at the front free endpaper and the rear pastedown] and 1 blindstamp to the half-title) in a crisp, price-intact, VG dustjacket, with one 2" closed tear and light creasing along the rear panel's lower-edge. Winner of not only the Booker Prize (England's Pulitzer Prize) but was also even awarded "the Best of the Booker prize, TWICE, in 1993 and 2008 (this was an award given out by the Booker committee to celebrate the 25th and 40th anniversary of the award)"

Sinopse

Midnight's Children is an epic book of magical realism, a poioumenon about India's transition from British colonialism to independence. It was written by Salman Rushdie in 1981 and is considered an example of postcolonial literature. The story is expressed through various characters and is contexted by actual historical events as with historical fiction. Midnight's Children won both the 1981 Booker Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for the same year.
