Sobre este item

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1935. Karel Capek is famed for his first use of the word "robot," and his iconic novel "War with the Newts." He was nominated for the Nobel prize seven times. This is the second volume in his "Noetic Trilogy" (the others are "Hordubal" and "An Ordinary Life"). First published in Prague in 1934; this is a Good only copy of the First American Edition, translated from the origial Czech by M. & R. Weatherall. Blue cloth binding with titling in silver. Clean text; 256 pages. Contemporary (1942) signature on the FFEP. Unfortunately, a rather disreputable copy. Bumped, and the front gutter has split to expose the webbing; the spine has darkened, is rubbed at the bottom, with a chip to the top. Margins are also darkened, and there is a small ding to the front cover. A reading copy.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
