Thomas Lanier Williams, is more commonly known as Tennessee Williams, and has written some of the most enduring plays of the 20th century (think The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire to name but two), has written his life story. Of his upbringing, his struggle as a playwright, people he has known throughout the world and of his personal life – frankly about his homosexuality, his battles with both pills and alcohol and his eventual confinement into a hospital from which he emerged in 1970.
