Sobre este item
Chicago: Abraham Lincoln Book Shop, 1946. Hardcover. Small 4to. Cream cloth with gilt lettering. 78pp. Frontispiece, decorations. Partly uncut. Near fine. Spine slightly age toned per usual; lacking slipcase. First edition, an unspecified limited edition that preceded the Harper & Brothers first trade edition -- this copy with choice presentation inscription on front flyleaf in blue ballpoint "For / Hon. Adlai Stevenson / Good governor of / Lincoln's Illinois / with sincere / admiration from / a Lincoln Republican / G. Lynn Sumner / New York / Feb. 4, 1952." Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65) was the then-current presidential candidate, and though a diehard Democrat he was also wellknown as a Lincoln admirer. From the library of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. senator from Illinois (1969-81). Most unusual copy.
