New York: George Braziller, 1964. Second Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/GVG. 224 pp; with index. Black cloth, titles gilt. Inscribed "for Charles and Danny lovingly Erich". From the library of Charles Bell, writer, poet, and Rhodes scholar. Bell's Greenville, Mississippi childhood included classmates Walker Percy and Shelby Foote. His first novel, The Married Land, Houghton Mifflin, 1962, was praised by William Carlos Williams. Bell's work includes three volumes of poetry, two novels, and an audio-visual opus, "Symbolic History." Bell and Kahler were close friends at Princeton. A few pages have pen notes or underlining. Bell has written "Dearest Princeton Friend - see also Man the Meaning" on the dj front flap.
