An absolute "must-have" title for Daniel Mendelsohn collectors. This copy is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed, dated, and inscribed in black ink-pen on the half-title page by the author: "With warmest wishes! Daniel Mendelsohn 18 Jan 2007". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. Daniel Mendelsohn's handwriting on this copy is one of the most beautiful we have ever seen. The recipient, who is named, is personally known to the author, received the copy from him, and cannot be named here at their request. This title is a great book. As far as we know, this is the only such signed, dated, and inscribed copy of the First Hardcover Edition/Second Printing available online and despite its imperfection (price-clipped, apparently by the author) is still in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Copies available online have serious flaws, are in multiple subsequent printings, or are remainder-marked. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed copy thus.
