Publisher's green cloth with a wide and elaborate gilt frame on front enclosing gilt lettering, gilt spine lettering, top edge gilt. Snag on rear cover, expected rubbing along edges, bookplate, old tide mark on lower gutter margin of frontispiece and last two leaves (not affecting anything). Overall, a very bright and clean copy of one the best sporting books to come out of Southern California.Holder moved to Pasadena in 1885 and promptly threw himself into local outdoor activities. He was one of the founders of the Rose Parade and the Tuna Club at Avalon on Catalina Island. This is Holder's account of hunting and fishing in the counties of Santa Barbara, San Buenaventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, and San Diego. He is often credited with being the originator of big-game fishing.
