Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, Count of Mirabeau (9 March 1749 2 April 1791) was a an early leader of the French Revolution. S. G. Tallentyre which was the pseudonym of historian Evelyn Beatrice Hall; she wrote the famous phrase "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Frontis portrait with tissue guard and four additional plates. Indexed. Original light green publisher's cloth binding with dull gilt spine lettering (which is still legible, however). Previous owner's bookplate--end paper may be partially glued to bookplate as it does not open freely. Some pages unopened (short tear to edge of contents page where previous owner attempted to carelessly open it without using a knife). A nice clean, tight and unmarked book. Top edge gilt.; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 366 pages .
