New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1859. Leather and Paper. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Early reprint - original was 1858. This printing with additional, and delightful, plates (Howes: Irving, 84). Professionally rebound in modern navy blue leather and marbled paper with gilt titles on spine. Edges of text block marbled. 518 pp. Period covered in text is about Morristown, 1780 through Washington's inauguration. Occasional foxing and offsetting. Old dampstaining on several pp., occasionally touching text or illustrations, usually with gentle effect. All 21 engraved plates present, and all but 2 have their original tissue guards. All 11 woodcuts present (publisher lists 12 in error). Both maps present.
