Description: The publisher's bookplate shows this to be copy number 10005. (This bookplate is imprinted with the name of the owner.) Includes a few black and white illustrations. Originally published in 1968, this privately printed edition of The Leo Frank Case includes a reprinting of the special news section to The Tennessean from Sunday, March 7, 1982. In 1913, Leo Frank was implicated in the murder of a thirteen year old girl, Mary Phagan in Atlanta. The community, the press, and the jury were quick to convict Frank because he was a ''Yankee Jew'' although nothing in Frank's history indicated wrongdoing, no other evidence supported his accuser, and the prosecution acknowledged that the accuser had told several versions of his story. The episode became a catalyst to anti-Semitism in the South. In 1915 a mob stormed the state prison where Frank was serving his life sentence, and abducted and hanged him. Later evidence, included here in the news reprint, proved Frank's innocence, and he was finally pardoned by the State of George in 1986. This is a well researched and unbiased account of the case. The special introduction for this edition from the Notable Trials Library is by Alan M Dershowitz. Book design by Daniel B Bianchi and Selma Ordewer.
